Attorney Convicted in Tax Shelter Scheme Defaults in IRS Dispute

A former attorney is on the hook for at least $4.5 million in taxes after he defaulted in his cases before the US Tax Court.

Dismissing two petitions from John B. Ohle III after finding him in default, Judge Joseph W. Nega upheld the IRS determination that Ohle owes tax deficiencies asserted by the IRS for 2001 to 2004 and at least $190,000 in penalties for failure to pay, and another $2.5 million for fraud.
