Arnold & Porter Hires Five Lawyers Across Four Offices

Arnold & Porter has hired five new lawyers across four offices and three practice areas, including Mark Epley, who was previously senior advisor to former U.S. House Speaker Paul Ryan.

Epley, a partner in Washington, joins the firm’s public policy practice from the Managed Funds Association where he was chief legal officer. Before joining the Speaker’s office, Epley served as general counsel to the House Committee on Ways and Means and staff director for its Subcommittee on Oversight.

He will help grow out Arnold & Porter’s legislative and public policy practice, “which will be critical as our clients must navigate changes in policy from the Biden Administration,” according to firm chairman Richard M. Alexander.

The firm also hired Jones Day corporate and finance partner Alex Gendzier in New York and Greenberg Traurig litigation partner Katherine Treistman in Houston. Attorneys Michele Rowland and John Ruppert are joining the firm’s Denver corporate practice from Ballard Spahr.

“We are continuing to invest in our key strategic priorities including our transactional, litigation, and regulatory capabilities, as well as expanding our footprint outside our offices in Washington, D.C. and New York,” Alexander said. “Our investments in new colleagues in Denver and Houston are an important part of this effort.”

Gendzier’s practice focuses on the representation of investors, companies, and banks in capital markets transactions. He also advises companies on SEC and stock exchange requirements and represents boards of directors on governance matters.

Treistman represents clients in high-stakes complex commercial disputes ranging from antitrust, auditor liability, and employment to other commercial claims.

Rowland and Ruppert represent clients on mergers and acquisitions, corporate and commercial finance transactions, restructurings and reorganizations, and general corporate matters.
