Arnold & Porter has brought aboard Ben Fackler, an M&A lawyer with experience in investment banking, as a corporate and finance practice partner in San Francisco.
Fackler’s hiring “reflects the firm’s commitment to continued growth of our transactional offerings in Northern California and nationally,” Doug Winthrop, head of Arnold & Porter’s San Francisco office, said in a statement.
He said Fackler had “deep expertise in public and private company M&A, capital markets, and restructuring transactions.”
Fackler said in a statement that he was pleased to join Arnold & Porter and looked forward “to help drive the firm’s growth plans in the transactional area in Northern California and beyond.”
While in private practice and in the financial sector, Fackler said he advised clients on a variety of complex public and private company transactions worth more than $250 billion.
Fackler had been a partner at California’s Allen Matkins law firm, where he was head of its San Francisco M&A practice. He also has been a partner in Casablanca Capital, a private investment company in the New York area, and a director of investment banking at Lazard Freres in New York. Prior to that, he was an attorney at Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz handling corporate transactional matters between 1998 and 2007.
Arnold & Porter, which has nearly 1,000 lawyers, added a capital markets lawyer from Kirkland & Ellis, Carol Anne Huff, to its Chicago office in December 2019. This month, Arnold & Porter hired three lawyers for its intellectual property practice in Chicago. The firm has 14 offices around the globe.
