Aramark Argues for $908,000 Tax Refund at Ohio Supreme Court

Aramark Corp. told the Ohio Supreme Court that reimbursements it received from clients under a management fee contract are tax-exempt because the food and facilities services provider acted as an agent, so it’s entitled to an approximately $908,000 tax refund.

Court records show the commissioner denied Aramark’s refund claims, finding that Aramark didn’t act as an agent, and the board of tax appeals upheld the refund claim denials. Aramark is asking the Ohio Supreme Court to overturn the BTA’s decision because under relevant tax laws, the company argues that those reimbursements are tax-exempt.
