A federal appeals court denied a bid to revive a criminal case against Boeing Inc. over two fatal crashes of 737 Max jets, rejecting a claim by families of the victims that the US government reached an improper settlement with the planemaker last year.

A three-judge panel of the 5th US Circuit Court of Appeals in New Orleans on Tuesday ruled the families don’t have the legal standing to challenge a deal Boeing reached with the US Justice Department that was approved by a federal judge in Texas.
