Appeals Court Admonishes Attorney in ‘Oasis’ Trademark Dispute

The Seventh Circuit issued a public reprimand of a New York lawyer who failed to show up to oral arguments in a trademark dispute, according to an order from the appeals court.

Favra Jafri didn’t appear on Oct. 25 for arguments, leaving the opposing counsel to represent the views of both parties, the order from the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit said. Jafri’s response wasn’t sufficient in explaining why she asked to cancel the arguments so close to the set date, according to the order.
