Anthropic Taps New General Counsel Amid AI Firm’s Funding Push

Anthropic PBC, an artificial intelligence startup in talks to secure $10 billion in new funding, has hired Jeffrey Bleich, a former diplomat and litigator well-known in political and technology circles, as its general counsel.

An Anthropic spokeswoman confirmed Bleich’s hire and said he reports to the San Francisco-based company’s former general counsel, Brian Israel, who is now chief legal officer. Neither Israel nor Bleich were available for comment. Israel said in a statement posted to LinkedIn that he’s taking on a “broader range of responsibilities” and will work with Bleich in building out Anthropic’s legal team.
