Anheuser-Busch Consumers Drop Suit Criticizing ‘Ritas’ as Beer

Anheuser-Busch consumers have voluntarily dismissed, for now, a suit alleging the company duped them with “Ritas” brand beverages that were nothing more than flavored beer, according to a Thursday filing in a federal court in New York.

Tanya Cooper and Joseph Rose alleged Anheuser-Busch LLC sold margarita-named packaged drinks without tequila, mojito drinks with no rum, and rosé and sangria beverages that lack wine.

The beverages don’t contain the associated liquor or wine, but are just beer masquerading under drink-themed names, they alleged in a proposed class action in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York. ...
