THE TRUMP ADMINISTRATION filed an unexpected brief urging the US Supreme Court to take up a petition by oil companies to review a climate lawsuit, Jennifer Hijazi reports.

• A Colorado high court decision to let Boulder’s climate lawsuit proceed closer to trial is “manifestly wrong” and could open the floodgates for other suits that should be preempted by federal law, according to the amicus brief DOJ filed Thursday. The federal government can submit briefs without permission in any US appellate court, including the high court.
