Alzheimer’s Drug Company Co-Founder Departs With New Legal Hire

Cortexyme Inc. has recruited a new chief legal officer as the clinical stage pharmaceutical company pushes forward on treatments for Alzheimer’s disease and other neurodegenerative disorders.

Caryn McDowell, most recently general counsel at Newark, Calif.-based biotechnology company Revance Therapeutics Inc., will come aboard May 11 as chief legal officer, chief administrative officer, and corporate secretary. She will take over from Cortexyme’s current senior vice president of legal and administration, Kristen Gafric, who as a co-founder of the company leaves with a sizeable sum in stock.
