Akin Expands Trade Practice with Commerce Dept Strategist Emme

Steven Emme joined Akin as a partner in its international trade practice in Washington, D.C., the firm announced Monday.

Emme served as the chief of staff and chief strategy officer of the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Bureau of Industry and Security, having led policy and strategic planning of the agency. He served as a key architect of many of the most impactful BIS actions, such as the development of new restrictions on emerging and critical technologies, including on semiconductors, artificial intelligence, and biotechnology, the firm said.
