A DC federal judge is halting a court fight between the Justice Department and the American Bar Association over federal grants to aid lawyers who work with domestic violence survivors.
Judge Christopher Cooper on Thursday threw out the Justice Department’s motion to dismiss the ABA’s suit against it, and granted the parties’ request to administratively close the case. He left open the opportunity to revisit the fight when the last grant in contention runs out, in September 2027.
