The Energy Department will award $105.5 million for about 70 solar research projects, the agency announced April 17.
The funding is for early-stage research in both solar photovoltaic and concentrating thermal power to improve affordability, flexibility, and performance of solar technologies, the department said in a statement.
Specifically, the department plans to award $46 million for research to integrate solar power into the electric grid, $24 million for concentrating-solar-power research and development, $27 million for research to reduce costs and increase performance of photovoltaic solar power, and $8.5 million to “prepare the solar industry for a digital future” and increase ...
