ANALYSIS: The SEC Rebalances Its Rules; SPACs Make a Comeback

SEC Chair Paul Atkins, sworn in April 22, is swiftly leaving his mark on the agency. Many significant rules proposed by his predecessor, Gary Gensler, are now set to be withdrawn, and enforcement actions against crypto firms have generally been settled or abandoned. Even SPACs, presumed dead by many in 2022, are on the rise again.

In many ways, the changes that attorneys predicted would occur are already here. A Bloomberg State of Practice Survey queried attorneys in April, the same month in which Atkins joined the SEC, about what they expected to see out of the commission. The survey ...
