On April 29, a Texas appeals court indefinitely paused a proposed deal that would have allowed satirical media site The Onion to license Alex Jones’ Infowars intellectual property while a receiver maintained ownership pending a later sale.
This proposed licensing aptly illustrates how, in distressed markets, value increasingly resides not in the underlying business itself. Instead, it’s found in the ability to preserve, redirect, and monetize access to audience attention, platform continuity, transferable rights, and operational access.
