Without a doubt, the California Consumer Protection Act (CCPA) greatly expands consumer rights and imposes new obligations on businesses. And the recently agreed-to amendments—still awaiting action by Gov. Gavin Newsom—provide much needed clarification on certain issues. But some of the amendments could be viewed as weakening consumer rights and providing additional wiggle room for businesses.
