At least 10 states are targeting ESG investing laws—without actually using the term “ESG.”
What’s the cause of this omission? It could be the political landscape, but it’s just the latest in a line of changes around the communication of corporate environmental, social, and governance priorities. The language surrounding ESG concepts has never been consistent—and we’re not getting closer to settling on common terminology.
But do these terminology issues mean that corporate consideration of ESG factors is going away? Likely not.
