Ransomware litigation has surged as cybercriminals continue to extort small and large businesses alike. This is thanks in large part to the Ransomware-as-a-Service business model lowering the bar to entry. The victims may change from one attack to the next, but the resulting lawsuits are starting to show some common qualities.

This year, a massive ransomware attack on CDK Global II LLC, on the heels of an even higher-profile attack on Change Healthcare Inc., shows that history may not repeat itself, but it certainly rhymes.
