The slow bargaining days of summer are upon us. One look at the list of major contracts expiring in July makes it clear that most labor relations negotiators have agreed to clear their calendar for the month. Except for whoever’s in California.
The Golden State is the setting for one out of every five July expirations of contracts involving 100 or more workers tracked by Bloomberg Law—including three of the five largest agreements on the list. In fact, 49% of the 94,000 workers covered under these contracts call California home.
