ANALYSIS: Activists Maintain Hot Streak But Fall Off Record Pace

Activists launched 219 campaigns last quarter, but it may not be enough to keep them on their record-breaking path.

In 2023, activists shattered quarterly records for Q1, Q2, Q3, and Q4 by launching more campaigns in each respective quarter than had been seen since at least 2017. This led to the highest year-end campaign launch totals Bloomberg has on record.

And activists looked like they may be able to keep up that momentum when they again launched 210 campaigns in Q1 2024, beating out Q1 2023’s record-breaking count (191 campaigns).
