NY’s Hochul Seeks Narrower AI Regulatory Bill Opposed by Tech

New York Gov. Kathy Hochul (D) is proposing to narrow state legislation that would place the nation’s toughest restrictions on the most advanced artificial intelligence models to prevent public safety threats.

Hochul’s proposed changes to the bill (A.B. 6453), viewed by Bloomberg Government Thursday, would closely mirror those contained in a new California law that Gov. Gavin Newsom signed Sept. 29, requiring that developers disclose their safety protocols to state officials.
