Trump DOJ Antitrust Pick Projects More Openness to Settlements

President Donald Trump’s pick to lead the Justice Department’s antitrust division envisions a greater willingness than her predecessor to employ settlements to resolve investigations into mergers and acquisitions.

“I expect this administration will be more open to settlements in merger cases when effective and robust structural remedies can be implemented without excessively burdening the Antitrust Division’s resources,” Gail Slater said in a written submission to members of the Senate Judiciary Committee that was published Monday.
