Meta Faces Privacy Lawsuits Over Tracking DMV Website Visitors

Meta Platforms Inc. is accused of tracking visitors to state motor vehicle department websites without their permission in a pair of potential new class actions.

Meta’s tracking technology is embedded into the New Jersey and Nevada DMV websites, the two Facebook users’ lawsuits allege. The social media company is able to gather information about online functions such as scheduling a driver’s test, registering a new car, or renewing a license, according to complaints filed Wednesday in the respective states’ federal courts.
