Bionovo Inc. filed for Chapter 7 protection Oct. 26 in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of California (In re Bionovo Inc., Bankr. N.D. Cal., No. 12-48725).
Headquartered in Emeryville, Calif., the company’s website describes it as a “drug discovery and development company focused on safe and effective drugs for the treatment of unmet medical needs in women’s health and cancer.” According to the site, the company was working toward the creation of a drug to reduce the severity and frequency of hot flashes and a drug to treat breast cancer.
