WOM Mulls Buying Telefonica Unit in Chile, CEO Says: El Mercurio

Telecommunications company WOM would be open to acquiring Movistar, Telefonica’s mobile phone service in Chile, CEO Chris Bannister said in an interview with local newspaper El Mercurio.

  • The company would carefully analyze potential purchase of Movistar, or a stake of it, Bannister said, according to El Mercurio
  • NOTE: Telefonica mandated Citigroup Inc. to manage the sale of its Chilean unit, after the Spanish-based company offloaded many of its other subsidiaries in Latin America
