The lead plaintiff in a class action against Harvey Weinstein will receive about $118,000 for her “substantial contribution” to the Weinstein Co.'s bankruptcy estate, under a court-approved settlement.
Actress, producer, and screenwriter Louisette Geiss, who served as co-chair of the creditors committee in the company’s Chapter 11 case, settled a more than $2 million claim for attorneys’ fees and expenses tied to a successful mediation.
“Without resolution through mediation, confirmation of a plan would not have been possible,” Judge Mary F. Walrath said at a virtual hearing Tuesday in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware.
