USA Gymnastics filed a voluntary petition for protection under Chapter 11 in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Indiana “to expeditiously resolve the claims made by the survivors of sexual abuse perpetrated by Larry Nassar,” the organization said in statement.
“We owe it to the survivors to resolve, fully and finally, claims based on the horrific acts of the past and, through this process, seek to expedite resolution and help them move forward,” Chair Kathryn Carson said in a statement.
USA Gymnastics has estimated liabilities of $50 million to $100 million, according to the filing.
