US Mortgage Rates Fall for Second Week, Sending 30-Year to 6.18%

Mortgage rates in the US ticked lower for a second straight week.

The average for 30-year, fixed loans was 6.18%, down from 6.21% last week, Freddie Mac said in a statement Wednesday.

Rates have come down since September, but house hunters have been slow to respond. Meanwhile, sellers are withdrawing listings, waiting for the market to turn around. The key spring sales season will get underway in the next few months, and agents are hoping buyers return as the weather warms.
