The Body Shop was hit with a proposed class action on behalf of hundreds of employees who were abruptly terminated as the cosmetics retailer collapsed into bankruptcy.
The fired workers first filed their complaint Sunday against Buth-Na-Bodhaige Inc.—better known as The Body Shop— just days after the eco-friendly products chain filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy in New York to liquidate its US operations. The company, which was purchased by European investment firm Aurelius Group in November for nearly $260 million, previously filed insolvency proceedings in the United Kingdom and Canada.
