The bankruptcy court for the Southern District of Texas will re-open for in-person hearings after the Labor Day holiday, Judge Marvin Isgur told lawyers in a hearing Thursday.

  • The Delta variant of Covid-19 could impact the re-opening, Isgur said
  • The court, one of the busiest in the nation for large corporate bankruptcies, will use a hybrid hearing model going forward, Isgur said
    • Lawyers will be able to appear remotely or in-person
    • “Everything will be hybrid,” Isgur said. “It’s going to be a bit of a Wild West”
  • Comments came in a Washington Prime Group bankruptcy hearing
