Former talc miner Cyprus Mines Corp. asked a court permission to join bankrupt Imerys Talc America Inc.'s lawsuit to compel Johnson & Johnson to pay for thousands of asbestos exposure claims.
Cyprus, whose mining business was acquired by Imerys, says it’s entitled to J&J’s payment for the cost of paying out consumers’ claims that the health care giant’s talc products caused diseases such as mesothelioma and ovarian cancer.
