SunPower Must Stop Solar Shutoff Threats, Homebuilder Says (1)

Homebuilder Meritage Homes Corp. asked a bankruptcy court to force SunPower Corp. to stop telling its customers that it will remotely deactivate their solar equipment next week because of a fight over who can collect on customer accounts.

The suit comes over conflicting claims over who owns and can collect on about $3.8 million in customer debts stemming from contracts between Meritage and SunPower that were purportedly rejected during the solar firm’s Chapter 11, according to a complaint filed Thursday in the US Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware.
