Steward Health Trustee Sues Insurers Seeking Unpaid Claims (1)

Steward Health Care’s liquidating trustee is suing Humana Inc. and other health insurers to recover more than $60 million, accusing them of denying or underpaying thousands of valid claims.

Health insurers allegedly had been failing to pay millions owed under contracts for patient services by the time Steward closed or sold hospitals in several states, according to complaints the trustee filed May 5 in the US Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Texas.
