Steward Bankruptcy Judge to Review $304 Million Fee Requests

A judge overseeing Steward Health Care System’s bankruptcy said he will carefully consider requests to reject $304 million in legal fees charged by more than a dozen firms that worked on the case.

Judge Christopher M. Lopez of the US Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Texas made his comments during a Tuesday hearing on the fees, which the state of Massachusetts, among others, opposed. He said he hasn’t yet been able to thoroughly review all the documents to issue a decision from the bench.
