Sorenson Communications Inc., along with six affiliated companies, filed for Chapter 11 protection March 3 in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware (In re Sorenson Communications Inc., Bankr. D. Del., No. 14-10454).
Pursuant to court documents, the Salt Lake City-headquartered debtor is a provider of “innovative telecommunications products and services for hard-of-hearing individuals.” The debtor’s services include a video interpreting service. The debtor cites a 2010 Federal Communications Commission reduction in compensation rates, along with costly FCC-mandated increases in minimum performance requirements in 2013 as having “a materially adverse impact” on its finances.
