Shale Producer EQT Boosts Texas LNG Project With New Supply Deal

Shale producer EQT Corp. has signed a supply agreement with a proposed Texas liquefied natural gas export project that would see it take half of the plant’s capacity.

Under a preliminary deal announced on Tuesday, EQT would quadruple the volume under an accord announced in January to 2 million metric tons annually for 20 years. The export plantin the Port of Brownsville, which is expected to start up in 2028, is one of only a handful of already licensed projects unaffected by a Biden administration moratorium on new LNG.
