SEC’s Crypto Crackdown Just Getting Started: Crypto in DC

US Securities and Exchange Commission Chair Gary Gensler signaled the agency will step up its crackdown against cryptocurrency firms shirking its rules, comparing some intermediaries to casinos.

“The runway is getting shorter” to start following rules and register with the agency, Gensler warned during an interview with Bloomberg.

The US is in no rush to plot a path toward a potential digital dollar, the top Treasury Department official for financial markets and stability said, emphasizing the need for a central bank digital currency does not currently exist.
