Sbarro Inc., and its domestic subsidiaries Nov. 28 announced that it has successfully emerged from Chapter 11 protection after the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York approved the company’s reorganization plan on Nov. 17 (In re Sbarro Inc.).

The Melville, N.Y.-based company, the “world’s leading Italian quick service restaurant concept and the largest shopping mall-focused restaurant concept in the world,” and 27 affiliated entities filed for Chapter 11 protection April 4 (23 BBLR 437, 4/7/11).
