Russia Limits Voice Calls via WhatsApp and Telegram, Tass Says

Russia’s communications watchdog imposed restrictions on voice calls made via two leading foreign messenger services, saying they were being exploited for criminal purposes, according to Tass.

Measures have been taken to partially limit Telegram and WhatsApp as they have become the main voice services for fraud and extortion, as well as for involving Russian citizens in sabotage and terrorist activities, the state-run news service cited Roskomnazdor as saying Wednesday.
