Rural Mississippi Hospital Files Bankruptcy After Staff Cuts

Greenwood Leflore Hospital, a rural hospital in Mississippi, filed for Chapter 9 bankruptcy on Wednesday, shortly after officials laid off about a fifth of its staff and said they would shutter some services.

The community hospital has between 200 and 999 creditors, according to the bankruptcy filing, and estimated liabilities in the range of $10 million and $50 million.
