Puerto Rico Reopens Power Auction After Court Blocked Deal

The Puerto Rican government is reopening bidding for a disputed 800MW temporary power generation auction after a local court halted the process, said Governor Jenniffer Gonzalez late Thursday.

  • Contract terms now extended for 10 years
  • More than 12 companies expressed interest in the original three-year deal, which was awarded to Miami-based Power Expectations
    • Javelin Global Commodities, Gothams Energy and Karpowership appealed decision
    • New Fortress Energydisqualified from initial auction
