The Financial Oversight and Management Board of Puerto Rico urged the US Supreme Court to review its right to sovereign immunity from a media organization’s lawsuit seeking financial disclosures and “various sensitive documents.”
The oversight board, created by federal law in 2016 to lead Puerto Rico through its debt crisis, is asking the nation’s highest court to end a string of losses over a court order that it turn over documents requested by Centro de Periodismo Investigativo Inc., a Puerto Rico investigative news organization.
