Puerto Rico Agency Halts Work For New Fortress Energy Subsidiary

Puerto Rico’s energy regulator ordered New Fortress Energy’s subsidiary Genera to stop all activities related to converting Palo Seco and Mayaguez combustion turbines to natural gas.

  • Regulator says Genera failed to meet conditions and moved ahead with work without approval
  • Order says NFE must show cause on why it should not be fined; co. faces fines of up to $250,000/day per day of violation
  • A spokesperson for NFE did not immediately respond for comment
