Publishers Clearing House Sells Assets to Online Casino Operator

A federal bankruptcy judge approved the sale of Publishers Clearing House’s sweepstakes business to a Miami-based startup that operates Modo Casino, a free-to-play gaming site.

  • Judge Martin Glenn said during a Monday court hearing that he’d authorize the $7.1 million sale to ARB Interactive Inc.
    • It won a 20-round Chapter 11 auction for the 72-year-old company’s assets
  • PCH, which rose to prominence in the 1980s and 1990s as ads for its Prize Patrol sweepstakes flooded daytime television, filed Chapter 11 in April
    • The firm continued to offer online sweepstakes even as revenue shrank
