PG&E Professionals, Examiner at Odds Over Non-Work Travel Fees

A former judge monitoring professional fees in PG&E Corp.’s mammoth bankruptcy case urged the court to defy company lawyers and continue capping non-working travel compensation.

The cap for reimbursing such travel hours, including time spent in transit, should remain at two hours, appointed fee examiner Bruce A. Markell said in an Oct. 24 filing at the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of California.

The issue of compensating attorneys and other advisors for non-working travel is the only issue that remains open before establishing official billing procedures in the embattled utility’s Chapter 11 case, he said.
