Peninsula Airways Inc., a family-run carrier based in Alaska, has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy after its recent expansion to other U.S. hubs disappointed (In re Peninsula Airways, Inc, Bankr. D. Alaska, No. 17-00282).
The company, which is known as PenAir and shares some regional flights with Alaska Airlines Inc., plans to discontinue flights from hubs in Denver and Portland, Oregon that it started within the last two years, according to a court filing.
