Party City Sued by Ad Populum Unit Over Use of Consumer Info

An Ad Populum affiliate that bought Party City’s brand and other assets out of bankruptcy has sued the retailer, alleging it breached their deal by continuing to use personal and customer information for itself after the sale closed.

Party City Holdco Inc. has refused to stop using customer and personal information that Ad Populum subsidiary New Amscan PC LLC said it was given court permission to purchase for $20.6 million last month, according to a complaint filed Tuesday in the US Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Texas.
