Party City Seeks OK on Security Spending Amid ‘Specific Threats’

Party City Holdco Inc. is seeking bankruptcy court approval to spend as much as $400,000 on security for some current and former employees, officers and directors, citing last month’s killing of UnitedHealthcare Chief Executive Officer Brian Thompson.

“Multiple individuals have taken to the internet to express their desire to see harm come to the Debtors’ management” in the wake of the retailer’s Dec. 21 bankruptcy filing, Party City said in an emergency motion filed Tuesday.
