The Lindsey oil refinery in northern England faces liquidation, a blow to the local economy it serves and also to an industry that has seen its fuelmaking capacity slowly whittled away in recent years.
The Prax Lindsey Oil Refinery Ltd., owner of the plant near the city of Hull, is subject to a winding-up order, according to a government statement. A liquidator has been appointed for the firm, as well as for Prax Storage Lindsey Ltd., and Prax Terminals Killingholme Ltd.
