O’Melveny & Myers LLP named partner Peter Friedman as chair of the BigLaw firm’s bankruptcy litigation group, anticipating a “nationwide wave of bankruptcy-related disputes stemming from the Covid-19 pandemic.”
Friedman will lead a team of attorneys focused on issues arising from adversarial Chapter 11 cases, the firm said in an announcement Wednesday, predicting a surge in activity for the group.
“With businesses navigating this sudden and dramatic economic downturn and more companies seeking Chapter 11 protection, we expect bankruptcy proceedings to be more contentious than ever,” Friedman said in a statement.
